I don’t know about you, but I am still riding high from last weekend!! How awesome was it to be back together under one roof worshipping our great God?? I cannot wait to do it again this week and I hope that you plan on being here too!! If not, I do hope you’ll join us on Facebook Live!

As we gather again this week we will continue to follow the safety precautions that we did last week, detailed in the e-mail and letter that was sent out to you previously. If you did not receive this information, or have forgotten, please let me know and I will forward to you. This important information covers everything from pre-service snacks (BYOC…bring your own coffee, we’ll have water and individually wrapped snacks!!) to procedures with children.

Before I forget…PARENTS…starting this week, Susan MacDonald has provided TAKE HOME lessons for your children. They are packaged nicely in the lobby for you to take home and share with your children. What a great time for you and your kids to learn and talk about Jesus TOGETHER!! She has also placed a box for kids to ask ANY question they may have for me or her. Please take advantage of this great resource until we can begin to offer Kid Konnect again.

Now, on to this weekend!! How many of you have heard of Social Influencers? Who would’ve ever thought that would be a thing, but it is!! Social Influencers are people that have established a heavy, successful presence on social media outlets such as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snap Chat. These people have numerous “Followers” that listen to their every word and follow their likes and dislikes about everything from food, fashion, and other such things. One tweet from a Social Influencer can kill a business or set it on the road to success. It’s funny how one person can have so much influence on others.

Did you know that Jesus called His followers to be influencers? It’s found in Matthew 5:13-16 when He said:

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:13-16

In this passage, Jesus says that those who are his disciples should affect the world in a positive way… by the way they live their lives. Matthew recorded Jesus’ statements on salt and light in order to remind followers of Christ that they are called to influence the world rather than become influenced BY the world. By doing so, WE can become Social Influencers for Jesus!
