Google My Business is a free system used by large and small businesses alike. It allows both business owners and Google users to provide business information, images and reviews for businesses, creating an interactive and ultra-informative database of information about local-area businesses.
So there’s actually no actual cost to getting set up with Google My Business? Google gives a lot of tools for free that then get shut down, although it seems like Google My Business isn’t going anywhere. It’s very much integrated into the whole search ecosystem. Google gets more information about businesses so they can have better search results that they provide to their search customers. In a symbiotic way, it’s a great tool for both businesses and Google.
So in short, aside from being able to promote your GMB listing through Google Ads, it’s a completely free system. If you consider all the reasons you use Google over any other search engine, and all the reasons you use Google listings over listings like Yelp. Those are the reasons you’ll continue using Google, clicking on Google Ads, and using their paid services.
In a way, it’s Google helping themselves by helping businesses with a service that gets people coming back to Google and also patronizing business in a more effective way.
