Sample call / voice message for Parents:

Hello [name of parents], this is [your name]. I am [kids’ name] small group leader at The Summit Church. I just wanted to call to connect with you personally and ask your permission to check in on [child’s name] from time to time while everyone is practicing social distancing.

I’d love to pray with [him/her], see how [s]he’s doing and maybe talk about the weekly Bible lesson. If that sounds ok, please feel free to give me a call back or text me at [phone number] so we can talk about a good time for me to chat with [kids name]. Thanks!

What can you do as a small group leader during the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Call your families and let them know you’re praying for them.
Text your kids’ parents periodically to encourage them.
Use a video conferencing app to pray together during the week.
Facetime with families if you can. Just 10 minutes a week would be HUGE!
Text parents and connect them with any resources they might need.

Most Importantly: Stay Connected. Create a safe space for kids to express their feelings — no matter what they are.
