“…Charming, goofy and bitter all at once” -Film Threat
After a catastrophic accident leaves one of them paralyzed; misanthropic, aging New York City transplants are forced to outgrow their cynicism while the other forges a friendship with a Brooklyn native who is just discovering it.
We wrapped up production two years ago exactly (wow!). It’s been a rewarding project and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you in any capacity. Obviously we’d love to show this in a theater near you, where a couple of quiet laughs could perhaps assist in making you feel more comfortable with the tone of the work (or whatever other groupthink phenomenon would come up), but sadly it just wasn’t meant to be. The good news is instead of the 15 dollar festival ticket or the new studio VOD prices of $15+ you can own the film for the pandemic friendly price of 9 dollars (it is downloadable after purchase or streamable through vimeo until the 15th) and watch it in the privacy of your home right away or at your leisure. This will also be a limited edition purchase that includes a meandering introduction from yours truly.
I’m releasing this here and now because honestly, it’s basically the only asset that I have and this seems like a prudent time for me to monetize assets if at all possible due to the uncertainty of employment and the forthcoming administrative expenses of potential distribution on SVOD platforms. That being said, I will really miss getting reactions from friends, family and people I’ve never met. Please feel free to reach out after viewing on instagram @theothermichaelirish, Facebook, Text, Email (please don’t call, it’s 2020) if you’d like to chat directly with me about the film. Otherwise, sit back, turn off your cell phone, turn off your lights, turn off your children, and enjoy Permanent Collection.
