As we try to make sense of the world we live in, we need look no further than the fact that there has been a massive shift from belief in & dependence on God to a belief & dependence on self or anything other than Him. If we believe what the scripture says in Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”, then it should not surprise us that this rejection of God would lead to the foolishness and lack of understanding we’re now witnessing.
As it says in Romans 1:22-25 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
No place is this mass rejection of God more blatant than in our universities and places of so called learning. In reality most have become indoctrination centers undermining the very truths that have brought this country the freedoms & prosperity we have long enjoyed.
Thankfully some are sounding the warning cries. Dennis Prager is one such voice.
In a recent interview he said. “I realized in the ’70s at graduate school at Columbia that I was being taught nonsense, literally nonsense. Things that made no sense, and it drove me crazy because they were all bright. Bright people (the professors) taught me nonsense.”
“One day walking through Columbia, I had an epiphany. All of a sudden, one of the verses that we recited every morning in Kindergarten, first grade and second grade, for the first time since 2nd grade came to my brain. “Wisdom begins with fear of the Lord.” It changed my life. There’s no wisdom at Columbia because there’s no God at Columbia and that has been – that is one of the ways I knew. Oh, without God, look what happens. Without God, look what happens morally, intellectually, in terms of wisdom. My biggest reason for belief in God is watching what happens when people don’t.”
G.K. Chesterton,(1874-1936), the brilliant English writer, philosopher & lay theologian, said: “if you cease to believe in God, you’ll start to believe in anything”
